Kno’lan’s Story

He has a rare cancer called langerhans cell histiocytosis for the 3rd time, also has epilepsy.

We just got denied from Medicaid insurance for covering the seat, for the 4th time. This last time, we went to court for it and it still got denied.

He’s 73lb, due to being on steroids 85% of his life. He was born a healthy baby until 3 weeks I noticed signs of something. At 5 months old, he got diagnosed with LCH. He’s been in remission 2 times, so he’s on his 3rd time. We will find out if he’s cancer free on October 8th, after 12 months/rounds of chemotherapy.

He had a gtube for over a year due to aspiration and reflux. He was on controlled feedings and still gaining weight, due to steroids.

He got diagnosed with epilepsy in September of last year. He had his first seizure in June of 2025, and his second seizure in September of 2025. He’s been free of major seizures since Sept, but suspect he may be having absent seizures starting a week ago. He has an eeg admission scheduled for October.

The denial claims he has head and trunk control while seizing, when we provided documentation that he goes limp and unconscious while seizing. Also claimed his weight isn’t caused from cancer or the medication given for treatment. Steroids is the #1 thing causing his weight. I’d love to know what they think is causing his weight gain if it’s not the steroids.

Please help me find a seat for him. He is over the weight for a commercial carseat.
