One of the first questions almost every family asks is also one of the most honest.

"Can this really work?"

If you've found yourself asking that after seeing the cost of adaptive equipment, you're definitely not alone.

We've had this conversation with countless families over the years. Looking at a quote for several thousand dollars can feel overwhelming, and it's natural to wonder whether fundraising is even realistic.

The good news?

Yes, it can work.

Not every campaign reaches its goal, and we'd never promise otherwise. But we've seen families accomplish incredible things when friends, family, schools, churches, coworkers, and communities come together.

It Usually Isn't One Big Donation

When people picture fundraising, they often imagine someone stepping in with a huge donation.

Sometimes that happens.

Most of the time, it doesn't.

Instead, successful campaigns are usually built one contribution at a time.

A friend gives $25.

A grandparent gives $100.

A coworker contributes $50.

Someone else shares your campaign with their church or workplace.

Before long, those individual acts of generosity begin adding up.

What Does That Look Like?

Here's one example of how a $3,000 campaign could come together.

 Donation Number of Supporters Total
$25 40 $1,000
$50 20 $1,000
$100 10 $1,000
Total 70 supporters $3,000

Or maybe your goal is $5,000.

 Donation Number of Supporters Total
$25 40 $1,000
$50 30 $1,500
$100 20 $2,000
$250 2 $500
Total 92 supporters $5,000

Every campaign is different.

These aren't formulas—they're simply examples that show how many smaller donations can work together to reach a meaningful goal.

A Story We'll Never Forget

One of the first MobilityFunder campaigns was for Micah.

His family's goal was simple:

Help Micah ride alongside his brothers.

The campaign didn't go viral.

It wasn't picked up by the news.

It wasn't funded by celebrities.

Instead, family, friends, coworkers, and their church community came together to help.

Together, they reached the goal in just a matter of hours.

That campaign reminded us of something we've seen again and again:

People genuinely want to help when they understand how they can make a difference.

Our Advice

If there's one thing we've learned, it's this:

Don't assume you need one incredibly generous donor.

Think about your community instead.

Friends.

Family.

Teachers.

Neighbors.

Coworkers.

Church members.

People who already care about your journey.

Those are often the people who make a campaign successful.

From the Tadpole Team

We've spent years helping families find adaptive equipment, and one thing still surprises us.

People are often hesitant to ask for help—but the people around them are often looking for a way to help.

MobilityFunder was created to make those connections a little easier
