Emery’s Story

Friends and Family - Let us start by saying, we are so grateful at the number of resources and the amount of support that our move has provided Emery Jude with. There are several modifications that have been provided in our home to help him continue getting so big and strong!

However - as he is getting bigger we are running into several challenges with mobility and finding safe places for him to hang out with his siblings. He spends several hours of his day in his wheelchair and also has a stander that he spends quite a bit of time in to help keep his hips and legs strong. However, when he is not in one of these devices there is not safe seating that provides him the appropriate tilt and trunk support, especially as he has been healing from a recent hip surgery and is having his bone growth corrected.

We have applied for alternative safe seating for him through insurance twice and have been denied both times due to him already having seating (his wheelchair). This means that if he is not in his wheelchair, he is starting to spend a lot of time in his bed as he is getting to big to comfortably lift, transfer, and hold for long periods of time. While we appreciate all that he has been given, it's important to Kyle and I that he is able to be comfortable and in our main living space and not experience isolation.

This funding campaign will be up, over time, for those friends and family that wish to give him birthday/Christmas gifts in a way that provides a meaningful and safe place for him to be. Because I promise - He does not need more toys! Lol.
